Star Shoot

Here's a photo taken from a star shoot last week.  The shutter speed for this photo was about 15 minutes to create star trails and I put the North star a bit off the center to keep the trails from being only in the center.  As far as editing goes, I made the picture black and white to only show the contrast between the stars and the sky and then tried to find a balance between the lights and darks to give it a natural night sky look.

Going to the Sun

Here's a photo I took in Glacier National Park this summer.  This was taken on the first day the Going to the Sun road was open so there was a lot of snow and not as many people.  The trip was definitely a nice break from the busy summer I was having.

One thing I really like about Glacier is the extreme light and dark contrasts. This is why I attempted the black and white in this photo.  I don't think I would be near as happy with the photo if it weren't for the contrast within the clouds as well.  There was so much variety in contrast with the clouds that day and I hope this photo accurately showed it.

Zion

Here's an image I pulled from the Nature Conservancy's website.  This a landscape taken by Chris England within Zion National Park in Utah.  As a kid I've been to been to Zion a couple of times and Utah has been a very dear place to me ever sense.

I wouldn't like this image near as much if the tree weren't in the center pulling the two rock formations together.  There are also a lot of intense colors in this image, the burnt orange of the rock and the deep blue of the sky go really well together, probably because they're complementary colors.  I'll include a link to some more of Chris England's photos.
